Interesting article. I've read others focused on football

and I have made some anecdotal observations myself about it.

I played JFL in my inner-ring STL burb back in the late 70's until 1981.

Back then, it might have been 50-50 white/black or maybe 60-40 white/black.

I live in the same area and drive by the field and see the kids practicing and it must be 80-20 black/white if not more.

Our local high school team, which I played for in the early eighties, seems to reflect this as well.

I know the article mentions all sports, but football seems to be undergoing a cultural/demographic shift.

Hell my own boys went for soccer for the same high school and were quite good. The soccer program has gotten a lot better. Football is still top notch.

I think the article is more focused on sports like soccer, where select soccer kids prevail over cyc/rec league kids, etc.
