Too often kids like Gordon are treated as kids who are just troublemakers, ignoring that there could be a real underlying issue.

The story I heard is that he had witnessed the murder of a friend of his when he was younger. That's not something that is easy to overcome, particularly with no mental help, and no real presence from his parents.
