was a short-sighted move, but one that many on here would prefer.

Like the thread articulates, the US created some (clearly not all) the instability in their countries of origin. The US was nicer to its enemies from WWII - Germany & Japan. Now, those countries are back to prosperity and are allies, not enemies.
