Look at Tony Dungy. He had a great team in Tampa for a few years but could never get the job done. Mainly because he kept fvcking with the offense and getting in the way. No, they were not a great offense, but with that incredible D the O just had to be somewhat good. And Tony kept screwing it up. Like handing the ball to Mike Alstott instead of Warrick Dunn. Then, Tony went to the Colts, and what happened? A guy that helped instead of killing the offense won Tampa a Championship. What else happened? Dungy stopped getting in the way of the offense and the Colts got better too.
