violent video games. Just like 99.999% of all gun owners are law abiding and don't shoot anyone let alone commit mass murder.
there is a small minority of people whom i believe ARE negatively affected and desensitized by playing video games not to mention the general lack of social skills from staying in your parents' basement all day and night long.
but there is no ONE cause or ONE answer and that includes some people are influenced by rhetoric by politicians. doesn't mean the politicians are to blame. we'd do well to all tone down our rhetoric.
and none of this is to say we should make policy on the aberrant outlier behavior of an extremely small number of people.
