he do absolutely nothing while other nations impose tariffs that put manufacturing out of business in this country?

Is the country better off, is the stock market better off, when manufacturing and other jobs increase in this country?

Is a one day or one week or one month downturn in the market all you care about, or do you have some interest in the long-term health and stability of the American economy?
