the inherent situation that schools exist in.
There is no real reason that Alabama should have become what they are. Same for Nebraska.
When you look at things like state population, major metro area proximity, and such, there is no reason that Bama ever should have been great.
Meanwhile schools like Georgia and UCLA, and even Missouri should have been much better. It simply comes down to Alabama and Nebraska and Oklahoma wanting it more and doing the things that needed to be done 60 years ago to become a powerhouse.
By comparison, it's easy to understand why Michigan, Ohio St, and Notre Dame were as bigtime as they were considering the factors I mentioned above.
