Last year was Mitchell Smith 1st year after recovering from 2 major knee surgeries in 1 year. I don't think people have any idea of not only the physical but the mental recovery that is needed and how long that takes. That's not an excuse but a reality. No one is saying he is a star level player but his ceiling to me was always a very solid role player. So that being the case the drop off in recovery is relative to those expectations. Outstanding players are always better their 2nd year of returning to play then their 1st even after 1 surgery. I have 1st hand experience with this. That's why I cut him a little slack. To those that say he should have been shown the door, that would have shown a whole lot of lack of class for Nizzou to do that after a player (any player) had gone through that.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
