Without the south, we don't have money for the same size navy. Nor do we get the atomic bomb first without Oak ridge tenn.
Japan had 25%, 33% of population of china in WW2. Without any US intervention, that number goes higher, china/korea never recover.
It's also likely germans get nukes first, russian's got theirs by stealing a lot of secrets. With nukes, russia get's decimated.
Along with the Usa.
