There were some high level international diplomacy types on the News Hour some years back describing the pursuit by nations like Iran of nukes. They seek them for one reason - defense. You're likelihood of being attacked of invaded about disappears when you are sitting on a nuke.

We don't don't get to decide how Iran sets up its defense.

War w/Iran would be a cataclysmic mistake. And WHY IN FCKING WORLD would Iran fire a nuclear weapon at Israel. Iran could very well hold its own if not out-right defeat Israel with conventional forces. James Fallows wrote a terrific piece in the Atlantid 8-10 years ago wherein he said that Iran was the only country Israel feared. THUS they are doing all they can to get America to do it for them.
