She also stated that it was a conservation hunt. That means that it was controlled and most likely for the good of the herd, or whatever they call a group of giraffe.
Finally, if she did it legally through the SA government, as it sounds like she did, then she most likely paid sizable fees that will go straight to conservation efforts in the area.
We slaughter cattle by the millions but kill one giraffe and you are public enemy number one.
