I'm betting if you went through the last 10 or so final fours, over 50% would be former college basketball players at either at the NCAA level or at least at some level past high school. If you require that be D1 players, I'm betting that number isn't a majority but is still pretty high. Playing any college basketball shows a dedication to the game that seems like it could be a good indicator for a love of the game and dedication to the game that most college basketball coaches have to possess.
