The problem, as usual, is the embellishments of the claims. It seems to escape the notice of the embellishers, that they create opposition when they embellish, because the embellishers are seen as dishonest and disrespectful of legitimate contributors. They try to make it out like the U.S. would not have made it without their contributions, forgetting the opportunities and resources made available to the by, in large part, white people.
Yeah, you played a significant role. No, you didn't do it without us or in spite of us.
