The general policy for most public universities, including Mizzou, is to generally limit the level of athletic department expenditures to the level of athletic department revenue. Mizzxou follows that policy.

The Tiger Athletic Department's revenue ranks somewhere in the bottom third of the SEC programs. Thus, to the extent that resources determine success, the Tiger program is at a disadvantage to most SEC programs and those are the programs on the schedule in every major sport.
