The earliest a baby has been born and survived is 21 weeks and 5 days. Two premature babies hold the record for this. ... Usually, the earliest a baby can survive is about 22 weeks gestation. The age of viability is 24 weeks.

So my answer and the common-sense compromise for allowing abortions: Before 20 weeks. NEARLY all women will know they are pregnant by then. How those who don't and later want an abortion are treated has no good answer - except to let them do whatever they want. As in, freedom of choice and get the gov't OUT of the most important decision one can make.
