First, I was using the definition asked by Kawjer (originally asked by Hefeweizen) that any research not be funded by a government agency.
In doing that, I listed a zillion publications.
Such as:
https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/11/12/120207/meta
...which was funded by
https://www.globalcarbonproject.org/
And
https://www.nature.com/articles/nclimate3352?foxtrotcallback=true#acknowledgements
which, aside from people who WORK at State Universities, did not get direct funding from the US Govt.
Here is an article funded by Scripps Dept of Oceanography
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/292/5515/270
An article from Sweden, which had some sweet, sweet Swedish govt funding:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0301421512009275#aep-acknowledgment-id21
Netherlands:
https://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/abs/10.1175/2010BAMS3092.1
Feel free to look for yourself.

It is sometimes difficult to find papers that have NO AFFILIATION with someone that performs research at SOME University somewhere on the globe. Do you know why that is the case? Because it is ACADEMICS who are being published. Private companies dont publish data.
