to call it finished. Plenty long enough to set the narrative that there's nothing to see here, which is more than enough for his base to consider any additional information to be fake news.

Trump is exonerated in the eyes of his base without actually being exonerated. That could be a possible reason, but honestly who knows. If the report confirms the Barr summary then good! We have a president who didn't knowingly conspire with a hostile nation. Still seems like going on national TV and saying he fired Comey to make "this Russia thing go away" is not ideal for obstruction.
