It made sense to try for a risk/reward recruit at the 4 given our roster construction at the time. But as you said, not really a big impact either way. The two killers were not adding House and Punter, that would have stabilized things considerably. Especially under the premise of not taking transfers....and then shortly thereafter adding Barnett and Payne and Woods and Geist as transfers.

But most decisions in that era were kind of indefensible.
