They are more like weak women in an abusive relationship. The man beats them senseless, lies to them and forces them to do whatever he wants them to.

Like vote for socialists.

But they love him. They are not strong enough or smart enough to see what is going on. The WANT the lies and "I love yous" to be true. So they believe them.

They are weak and stupid.

And nothing will change.
