30-40 range in the initial one. Preferably closer to 30. If we aren’t banned from this postseason, and finish with a winning record, an RPI in the 30s is going to get us in. What hurt us so far:

-Playing IUPUI twice. They are 228. And, god forbid, actually losing one game to them. That cost us penalty points. Our raw score had us at 38, but our adjusted score put us at 40.

-Having the game against Arizona cancelled.

-Playing 7/24 games against teams with RPI ranks of about 150 or higher.

-Playing several teams whose RPIs are usually much better, like Georgia (40), Oregon (41), BYU (87), Utah (110). It’s not often stepping on the field 3 times against a top 10 ranked team will hurt your RPI, but it hurt us just playing Georgia this weekend. Because their SOS/NCSOS is just so bad, 165/176. Our overall SOS is #9 in the nation, but our non conference SOS is only #100.

The rest of the schedule is kind of a mixed bag. We have 12 non conference games left, and could schedule 2 more lost to weather. Those teams current RPI ranks (which will change) are:

20 Illinois (2)
41 Oregon (2)
73 Wichita St (2)
74 SEMO (2)
89 Bradley
171 UMKC
202 Pitt (2)

Not much help in that group beside Illinois for quality wins, though I expect them to start dropping, no way they finish that high. We need to go at least 9-3, or 10-2 in those 12 games.

The remaining SEC series are against these teams:

7 Kentucky
10 Tennessee
15 Ole Miss
30 SC
33 Miss St
53 TAMU

Mostly pretty good to great opportunities for quality wins that will help us, and will help our SOS by just playing those teams, except TAMU.

I’d be very pleased to go 10-14, 11-13 in the SEC this year, and getting 2 wins in the first 2 series against top 10 ranked teams was very good (Georgia though won’t see the top 10 the rest of the year I think). Starting with Bama, GA, UK, and Tennessee is brutal. Don’t panic if we only have 3-4 wins in those series. The final 4 series are much more manageable, and I can see us possibly getting 7-8 wins in those series, which puts us at 10-11 SEC wins overall. Which would be great.
