But you can’t say that Mizzou softball wasn’t run into a ditch on his watch. In his last season the team barely finished with a .500 record, barely qualified for the NCAA tournament, and was humiliated in the Eugene regional, knocked out by noted national powerhouse Chicago-Circle.
Then in 2018, despite being fired a few weeks before the season started, his team, his players, his recruits, again barely finished with a .500 record and barely made the NCAA tournament. His team, his players, his pitching staff, even if he was not in the dugout.
Those are facts. You can’t deny them. The program went off the rails on his watch. Now, you can promote the silly delusions that you and a few others here have about some grand conspiracy against poor innocent EE by a secret cabal of Sterk, snowflakes and their parents, and liberals. Do it to your hearts content. Complain for the next 20 years about the unfairness of it all.
But it doesn’t change the fact that the program was run into a ditch on his watch. He had one single primary responsibility as the head of a top 20 team, maintain a deep, quality pitching staff. And he utterly failed at that critical task. And now Coach Anderson has to clean up the mess he left her.
