His first contract at #10 would be $15.8 million . His first contract at #20 would be about $10.1 million. He's only going to be able to play to a certain age so by staying at Mizzou an extra year, that's one less year of being paid. The smart move given his injury prospects and the huge values of 2nd NBA contracts, it's much smarter to get to that 2nd contract as soon as possible.
