msft pays a 1.7% dividend
..same with AAPL....those are not "good" dividend paying companies

I am not that young, and I do well....for retirement, I use index type funds..for my own, I buy individual stocks that I think can run and are diversified solid, mostly international companies, although I go with some more consumer facing expanding companies in usa...did great with buffalo wild wings, and that play for me now is Dunkin
