We have seen time and time again what second, third and even fourth chances lead to. Letting criminals loose on the streets does nothing positive for society. This is not catch and release.

Further, police officers must be trained to understand that lethal force is the last response, not, as is too often the case, the first response. I promised that I would make sure that all killings that took place when people were in police custody or being arrested would prompt a Department of Justice investigation.


Apparently innocent until proven guilty is only pertinent to the criminals defends. He has obviously never ridden with a police officer or has the capacity to understand that split second life or death decisions are just that and if police officers always have to consider deadly force as the very last option on their tool belt we will see a rise in officer deaths. Police in many communities have already backed off pro-active self-initiated activities so they don't have to make many of those decisions. And the communities are suffering because of it.
