This is what the socialists do. They make some unbelievable (to sane people) statement that is rightly seen by many as preposterous. But it is exactly what they mean and exactly what they want. So after a little criticism, and some helpful hints and suggestions from the Republican Party, the absurd plan from the socialists is scaled-back to only ridiculous and impossible.
That is how socialists compromise.
For example, they absurdly said they want to remake every building and every structure in the United States to make it eco-friendly. After some criticism, they will scale it back to only 50% or so. Exempting some buildings that would be not just impractical and unnecessary, but impossible. At this point they will talk about their ability to compromise, and the spineless Republicans will claim a huge victory by getting them to relent on some things that were in possible to do.
Creeping socialism is no longer creeping. It is galloping.
