every single person who crosses our border w/o inspection should be granted an asylum hearing?
defensive asylum claims went from about 12,000 in 2008 to over 100,000 in 2017.
there were 186,000 pending cases in 2008. as of March 2018, there were 697,000. there are only slightly over 330 immigration judges. do the math on how long that is going to take.
unaccompanied minors in 2008 were around 3,000. in 2017 it was over 70,000.
