Per MU: penalties under appeal are stayed. Take a gamble?

Reading between the lines of the MU AD published FAQ, MU can appeal all, some or none of the penalties. In theory, MU could file separate appeals for each penalty it wants to appeal.
So, as an example, MU could choose not to appeal the recruiting restrictions for this next calendar year and not appeal the football scholarship reduction BUT then choose to appeal the post-season ban.
The gamble MU could make is that the appeal process will take longer than 11 months - meaning MU would be eligible for post-season play while the penalty is stayed under appeal. The best case scenario for the appeal is being positioned as 6 months. Ol Miss's appeal, parts of which were successful, took over a year.
Given the profile of this story -- it will be discussed in depth at SEC media days and brought up on every single MU Football broadcast - there is going to be a lot of opportunity for positive PR in MU's favor: sportscasters and talking heads will paint MU as a victim of unfair and unequal NCAA treatment. Do you take a gamble that there will be lots of public pressure on the NCAA to "make it right" for MU and that the new sitting committee will listen to that public?
Do you make a bet that there's a better than 50% chance of the NCAA lifting the post-season ban penalty AND therefore drag the appeal process out as long as possible?
If you lose, you have to serve that penalty in the future.
The SEC, via commissioner Greg Sankey, has already expressed support for MU. Could that support take the form of allowing MU to remain eligible for post-season play (the SEC decides as a league which team goes to which bowl) while under appeal?
It's easy for me to make that bet but that's the direction I would seriously consider.
