They come in 1st, 2cd and 3rd degree. Last thing anyone wants to do is expose themselves to ligament damage by playing on a badly sprained ankle.
If you are anything close to my age, what was expected in the late 70'a and 80's from student athletes (playing injured) was more out of ignorance of the long term damage that could be experienced. I was ignorant - not tough - and paying the price today.
