Hard to call it a must win today...

this early in a 56 game season. But losing to KU today would be about as bad as it gets. They are picked to finish dead last in the Big 12 for a good reason. They are 0-4 on the weekend, having been out scored 46-18.
Before the season I was hoping to come out of this first weekend 4-1, or 3-2 at worst. Now, 3-2 is the best we can do, and would be a disappointment after starting off 2-0 including the thrashing of a top 25 Arizona St team. 2-3 would be very disheartening.
KU has put some runs up so far, which is of course a concern for us. Do we come back with Norman again after she throws 8 innings yesterday, or go with Gasper, who handled ASU well? I’m not sure I have confidence in anyone else on the pitching staff at this point, until I see more results. Hopefully Gaspers performance wasn’t just an anomaly. The worst case today is KU gets 4-5 runs on the board and we strand 10-12 runners on base. As clutch as the hitting was on Friday, it disappeared yesterday. We need to get on top early today and take care of business.
Some interesting notes on today’s game. We will see a familiar face in the KU dugout, Gina Fogue is a volunteer assistant coach for them. Also, KU has junior Madison Sykes on the roster, younger sister of ex-Mizzou player Mackenzie Sykes.
