The easy and obvious solution, IMO, is to simply let players sign endorsement deals in college.

The NCAA has officially been trying to combat this for decades. It doesn't work. They don't have the resources (or the interest) in consistently enforcing these rules. The end result is schools still cheat like crazy, and only a handful get caught. And even when a school like kansas is exposed, nothing really happens, they continue doing what they do, and the system persists.

It's a losing battle, and it always will be as long as people keep trying to fight it.
