threes with regularity. It's a horrible comparison in almost every way, but Martin himself went from never taking threes (attempted just seven in his first two seasons) to being pretty deadly from deep over his final two years (179/390).
First step for Tilmon was improving his midrange game and free throw touch. He's sitting at 71% now from FT, which is pretty good for a big guy (Porter was a 75% FT shooter last year). Assuming he continues to work on his shot, he should be able to stretch that out a bit more next year. Won't ever be a 46% shooter on six attempts per game like Martin, but reaching a similar level as Jontay last year (36% on about three attempts per game) seems realistic to me. At a minimum, I'd bet on him being able to reliably take a couple of the defense ignores him.
The threat of an outside shot will make him much more difficult to defend in pick and roll situations.
