Even Dick Cheney let that slip out once.

If you even start paying off the debt the money supply will shrink and the economy will collapse. The federal reserve system we have today relies on debts to increase the supply of money so that economy will expand. Debt is part and parcel of our system, like it or not.

If our entire debt was paid off tomorrow all the money would be in the banks. Think about that for awhile.

Taxes and government waste are an issue. Relating those to paying off the debt is ignorance about how the whole system works.
