accept its legitimacy or not and you will find out what subject to the US government jurisdiction means. You will also discover the penalties that come with breaking those laws as well.
An example: Taxes. The US government can and will spend a million dollars against you teaching you it can take your money whether or not you like it or want to keep it. All under applicable law of course.
