Over the last year, though, athletics director Jim Sterk and his staff have revised that policy and broadened the requirements. Former athletes must now meet at least four of 10 criteria to be considered for number retirement, deputy AD Nick Joos said. Candidates must also be 10 years out of school and inducted into Mizzou’s Hall of Fame. The school also plans to retire the numbers of two former men’s basketball players, Joos said. (He declined to say which players, though Derrick Chievous’ No. 3 and Anthony Peeler’s 44 are conspicuously absent in Mizzou Arena’s rafters.)
