To try and get out in front of the emerging reality that the FBI was spying on Trump for no good reason, the NYT puts out their 1/11 story admitting the FBI was spying on Trump, but there was a combination of 3 things that gave the FBI good reason:
1. Trump called for hacking of Hillary's email.
2. The GOP watered down their platform regarding Russian interference in the Ukraine.
3. Trump was going easy on Russia from the campaign trail.
#1 never happened, #2 has been thoroughly debunked and never happened. Regarding #3, its pretty scary when a matter of differences with the foreign policy perspective being voiced by a presidential candidate is viewed as valid grounds for a powerful federal agency to open an investigation into the candidate. That sounds more like a dictatorship than our constitutional republic.
You know what else is scary? When the NYT believes it can achieves its propaganda objectives with outright lies, because it believes America is filled with a sufficient portion of low information voters and/or progressive partisans that don't care about the truth as much as they hate Trump.
