First, it's really a powerful anti-drug program as it depicted everything and everyone getting affected and poisoned.

Secondly, Walter enjoyed what he was becoming(Heisenberg), and though he made illusions, like Tony Sporano, to doing it for his family, he was getting off on his escalating power trip.
