Movie from 1944 warned about fascism. Tracy/hepburn

Hepburn was a Hollywood lib and this was supposed to be a movie about phony, flag waving patriotism and self-serving wealth generation disguised as charismatic pro American leadership.
An assumed patriot dies in a car accident. People are devastated. Children are literally crying. Crowds gather and weep openly at the death of their charismatic leader. Not unlike November 9, 2018.
Turns out, he was a phony power hungry zealot. Not a patriot at all. Not unlike fat Hillary Clinton.
Again, this is supposed to be a warning about phony right-wing, "patriots." But near the end of the movie when they discussed, described and defined this guy as a self-serving, self-aggrandizing, phony who was in this for his own power, glory and self serving satisfaction, all I could think about was the black Marxist and fat Hillary. Their lust for socialist power disguised as caring, compassionate concern for American youth and the downtrodden.
Anyway, I think old movies are interesting in a couple of ways. Everybody smokes, all the time. And the roles for women and blacks are very different than we see in movies today.
Interesting retrospective from the decades before we were born, on American culture.
