Why Harper should not be a Cardinal.

Bryce Harper has not consistently put up superstar - i.e. Mike Trout c. 2012-2018 or Albert Pujols c. 2001-2010 - numbers, to the point where he's worth the risk of shoving all your chips to the middle of the table and going ALL IN with a 10 year deal.

He's only been healthy enough to get 500 PAs in 4 of 7 seasons. His career OPS is .900 but he's only posted single season OPS above .900 twice.

He's only had 1 season w/ 300 total bases.

This a talented guy who consistently slumps and/or misses time.

It's possible that he'll improve and replicate and/or exceed the production of his 2015 season, but that's not a smart bet when you're on the hook for 300M if he doesn't and you have to renegotiate if he does...
