Ok I get it. Republicans are fearful hordes of spanish speakers fleeing the economic conditions we largely caused are going to rape their daughters and take their white collar jobs. And they must be stopped.

Estimates of a wall are around 25 billion and another 150
million ish for yearly maintanence.

And lets face facts- when's the last time a government estimate didn't exceed its original by 2 or 3 or more times?

The sager among us have argued that the wall will be completely worthless without proper manning of it.

So what is a better alternative to the wall -both ecologically and functionally?

Note: not advocating this , just discussing econ

You could build a little guard shack every 1/2 mile
for about 100 million. Maintance of less than 5 million.

You could staff these 4000 ish shacks with 16,800 border
agents. 1 per 8 hour shift per shack with enough to cover days off and vacations. This would cost about 873 million per year.

That would cover 25 years of the (unmanned) wall. By that time the whole immigrationophobia will be long blown over and we won't face the costs of dismantling the Berl.....errrr Trump wall.
