That is journalism school claptrap. Their job is to cover stories of interest to the reader and comprehensively report the facts that emerge, including those inconvenient to the press's/reporter's own biases. Person A says white is white. Person B says white is black. Person C says white and black look the same to them and they're not sure. Reporter says in some cases white is white, in others white is black and in the end white and black might be the same or might be totally different.
