a member of the Big 8/12 exactly once since the 1970's. And that was a season so bad our coach quit in the middle of the season.

I think the talent and athleticism in the SEC is a considerable step up from the Big 12. But there are also (at least historically, its improving) a lot more hapless coaches in the SEC.
