Has been much debate here between the Pro-Odom fans and the doubters. I think at this point you can still have some concerns about some in-game stuff with him, but pretty hard to question what he seems to be doing in player and program development. We've lost a couple games where we all feel like we were the better team(ky and SC), but the point is those were 2 good teams that we clearly looked better than. That's why those hurt.
So yea, you can put those on the coaches. But you also have to give him credit for putting a team out there that is not only competing in the toughest conference in the country, but putting one out there that this year looked like the better team against the majority of opponents. We dominated two storied programs on the road (fla and tenn) and were not at all over-matched against a potential playoff team in Ga. Alabama is the lone exception, but that is every other team in the country.
Won close games against solid teams in Vandy and Purdue that many felt shouldn't have been so close, but again that speaks to where we are at with the overall play on the field. If we finish up 8-4 that's probably where most of us would have predicted considering one of the toughest schedules in the country. We had some bad breaks and blew some opportunities, but still may make it to that record. The fact that we are somewhat disappointed by that probably speaks to the fact that the product we are seeing on the field is pretty damn good.
Now that I've pumped up the guy, the one negative from yesterday that was covered by the huge win was special teams. Despite 2 kickers with great legs, our special teams are awful and have always had issues under Odom. If we could turn that into an area of strength instead of losing that battle every week, it would sure make everything else easier.
