"The left" tends to belief that it is intellectually superior to the non-left and because of this "intellectually superiority" the left's position, solutions and programs should be accepted and adopted without it having to make a case. Therefore, it often doesn't not make a case and as a result it forgoes the opportunity to prevail.
An example is the climate change debate. The left's argument is scientific studies show the sky is falling and therefore . . .. It does not explain those studies, their logic and reasoning, the assumptions underlying them and the data. And because it fails to make a case, it has a greatly reduced chance of convincing folks that its "solutions and programs" should be adopted.
The left's greatest weakness is its arrogance, its belief that because it is intellectually superior . .
