show up in court to defend against these show charges.

These charges were specifically drawn against foreign nations and corporations BECAUSE there was no chance they would see the inside of a court. When these charges were brought Mueller needed some positive PR. His team thought this was a zero risk way to make that happen.

I think it is hilarious that the Russians called his bluff here.

If I thought for a moment that Russia actually interfered in our elections I would fully expect the US to respond. But responding to internet trolling should be beneath us.
