Since the current Mizzou athletic department and softball program has no intention whatsoever of providing softball fans with any information about the fall games. This is in marked contrast to when EE was head coach; there were always detailed reports on the fall games on his watch.
This is unofficial, hope others who attended the games can fill in or correct anything. And take it all with a grain of salt since the competition, as usual, is pretty weak.
Mizzou beat Jefferson College 10-1 in game 1, and beat North Central Community College 6-0 in game 2. Both games went 8 innings. Here is a summary of the pitching, will post the offensive numbers separately.
All 7 Mizzou pitchers eligible to play in 2019 saw action except for Baumgartner. No idea why she didn't pitch in either game.
Eli Daniel started in game 1 and was overpowering. Went 4 innings, had 5 strikeouts and no walks, allowed no runs, and only a bunt single in the third inning. Cassie Gasper took over in the fifth inning, threw 2 innings, no runs, 2 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 4. Baleigh Koester pitched the last 2 innings and was hit pretty hard, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, had 2 strikeouts and one walk.
In game 2, Madi Norman started and was also overpowering. She went the first 4 innings, allowed no runs, 1 hit (an error), struck out 8 and walked none. Only 1 ball even left the infield, a pop fly to center. Apparently the teams agreed to not record obvious errors, so the hit totals are slightly inflated for both teams. Nalani Scates pitched the next 3 innings and was also lights out. After allowing a double to the first batter she faced in the fifth inning, she settled down and allowed no runs, struck out 5, no walks. Summer Schockley mopped up in the eighth inning, walked 2 batters but gave up no runs.
Just the facts. My opinion of the pitching situation heading into the 2019 season is pretty grim and not for the faint hearted.
