....for years the pushover softies like the Bushes, McCain, Romney, and the cruise directors at National Review have acted like they were above mass politics and so they "lost with dignity" after building up a Labor Day lead in the polls.

Well, at some point, losing isn't dignified, kids. And when your opponent constantly has some fresh tricks in the late innings, you better learn to, as well. Timing and effort matter.
