read off a list of coach of the year candidates and probably half of them are getable and affordable. Half of the other half are probably getable if you can pony up enough money. And they actually missed a few, in my opinion. The good coaches are out there if Mizzou has the brains and bucks to go get one.
Let's face it: Odom was hired for all the wrong reasons. The players loved him. (Whoopee). He's a "true son". (So was Woody.) He was a good defensive coordinator. (Well, he had one of the best D line coaches in football to help him look good.). He was affordable. (Penny wise and pound foolish.).
Were these questions asked: Do his players respect him? Does he know how to recruit? Does he have college head coaching experience? Does he have the personality to "wow" the media, big-dollar donors, and other important audiences? I think the answers to all of these questions is "no".
