this terrified a lot of white people and started the "he's gonna let blacks do anything" narrative from the right. scared the crap out of them.

it wasn't seen as a President siding with the people over the law, especially after this demographic has been attacked by police historically. Obama was seen as a racist for sticking up for a citizen and saying it was stupid for the gov't to arrest a person in his own home. Unreal..
