to this years mid-term elections. The acrimony among the Democrats and Republicans have put into stark relief two very separate visions and quest for power in America. The conundrum is there are actually two distinct Americas residing with our boarders. The progressive wing has taken over the Democratic party most voters grew up with. Their condescension and disdain of anyone who holds a view point different than their own has alienated middle America to the point most voters have practically stopped listening to their message. Voters have been called racists, bigots, homophobes, Islamaphobes, white nationalists, deplorable and more.
Unfortunately, the democrats who have been saying this reside in the wrong areas of the country to affect the election.
I have long contended the democrats further shift to the left allowed Trump to be elected. 222 counties heavily democratic, mostly in the Midwest states of Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that twice previously voted for Obama switched over to Trump.
Why?
These democrat voters were mostly white, were marginalized by the very people they entrusted to look out for their interests. Trump said all of the things centrist democrats used to say. Jobs, revitalization of manufacturing, building a quality life for everyone versus an increasingly ascendant progressive populism focused on identity politics and a globalist economy which left many without jobs or a future to look forward to. People watched their jobs and their futures being farmed out overseas.
Furthermore, most do not share their utopian vision. Most see themselves as hard working, patriotic, law abiding citizens that only want to go about their lives living in peace and prosperity with a future to look forward to.
Instead of being recognized as such they are condescended to.
Electing Trump was the push back.

The liberal elites and mass media still don't get why Trump won. This president is so rapid fire with the complete dismantling of the Obama legacy in every facet imaginable that the Democrats and their allies can not keep up with him. The constant outrage over everything has not allowed the Democrats to coalesce around any message other than 'resist' every thing Trump. At the same time, for all of the Democrat counter moves against Trump, all it has done is hardened the Trump base and sent every centrist democrat out of the democrat party. The democrats in the zeal to resist everything Trump has alienated Republicans and Independents and galvanized them as nothing else could have. The middle part of the country has turned a deaf ear to the ruling class, corporate media that dominates American politics. What ever message democrats intended has been lost. Instead, Democrats have managed to turn the midterm election from local candidates to a national referendum affirmation about the direction of the country. Democrats can call it whatever they want, but the reality is Democrat identity politics has all but silenced political discourse and civility in the country. When political scientists examine the aftermath of the 2018 mid-terms they will find Republican gains were more push back against democrats.
