Based on the FACT that a woman known to these folks in HS told her therapist and husband of this assault six years prior to it being of any interest to anyone but them

That can't be explained. Further her memories fit a distinct pattern of recollections of assault victims. Do we as a society - as an aside - demand of former altar boys who suffered abuses to state the exact dates, locations and such details as who was in the church pews at the time etc, etc. The testimony of the assaults themselves are enough.

Six years ago she told basically the same story. Why?

And the craven few who suggest that this Stanford professor came forward with the idea of putting out a go fund me account for profit are ludicrous.
